Liza Edwards, MPH, Reiki Master

I began my healing path after experiencing a year and a half of constant illness, culminating in back surgery for a herniated disc in 1992. Tired of living with lingering pain, I accepted a free Reiki session at a conference in Boston in 1995, and it changed my life. I began going for Reiki treatments, and my back injury healed completely during the third session, to my surprise and delight. I continued receiving regular Reiki treatments for six months before taking First Degree and Second Degree Reiki in 1996. The more I received Reiki, the more I saw positive changes in myself, my relationships and my spiritual connection.

I moved to Hawaii in the Fall of 1996 to begin a Masters of Public Health program in Health Education at the University of Hawaii. During an internship for school, I met Maureen O’Shaughnessy, and knew instantly that she would be the one to initiate me as a Reiki master in Usui Shiki Ryoho. Over a year later, I began my preparation as a Reiki master, and was initiated in February of 2000.  Reiki is still my greatest teacher, and teaching Reiki one of my greatest joys!

I first experienced Craniosacral Therapy (CST) shortly after becoming a Reiki master, in the hands of one of my dear Reiki sisters, and immediately knew I wanted to learn this powerful yet gentle work. Since the first class, CST has been my  modality of choice when not practicing Reiki, which I generally offer as a stand alone technique. My experience has been that Reiki can do anything, so if it is requested I offer it first for every situation. If Reiki is not requested, I begin with Craniosacral Therapy, which really is a different vehicle for the same energy. To me, everything is energy at its foundation, and so any healing system of value must have an energetic component by definition.

My Manoa roommate introduced me to Young Living Essential Oils in 1996, and now it is hard to imagine life without them! They are in my medicine bag, my personal care items, my supplements, and it is a pleasure to share them and to teach others to share them.  In Waimanalo, Auntie Keonaona Kalua spent a year teaching me the beautiful Hawaiian medicine modality called Lomi lomi,  which I like to explain as “moving energy through muscles”. Lymph Drainage arrived in the form of Bruno Chikly when he came to offer a demonstration of his work during a CST class, and I could not believe the physical changes happening before my eyes! So you see, each technique I offer my clients is one which has touched me deeply and so all of them are a gift for me to share.

Of late my focus has shifted from the physical body to the emotional and spiritual bodies. Alaya Chikly helped me understand emotions more deeply in her Heart Centered Therapy class, and then I began learning Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or Tapping, through a 10 day summit offered by Nick Ortner. Having followed the Teachings of Abraham of Jerry and Esther Hicks for over ten years, I am passionate about sharing the Law of Attraction, which says “That which is like unto itself is drawn”. Meditation has allowed me to experience the truth shared by Abraham, and has become the dearest treasure in my life over the past few years. I love sharing the gift of meditation with all who express interest! I believe that in our natural state we are love, we are meditation, we are Reiki, we are pure positive energy. My role as a healing practitioner is to help my clients allow the well-being which is natural to flow.

Thank you for visiting my website and I hope to connect with you soon!
