Reiki is a Japanese word representing universal life force energy, the energy which is all around us and within us. Reiki brings us into more perfect balance on all levels using life force energy, or “ki”. Reiki is indicated for all types of physical ailments, as well as emotional or spiritual difficulties. It supports the natural healing process by going straight to the root of the problem, and can never do harm.
Usui Shiki Ryoho was developed by a man named Mikao Usui in late nineteenth century Japan. Through extensive study, travel, research and meditation, he developed this healing system. Reiki was brought to the West by a woman from Hawaii named Hawayo Takata in the 1940’s, and continues to be passed on from master to student.
During a Reiki session, the client lies down fully clothed on a Reiki table, while the practitioner places her hands over various energy centers of the body as well as any effected areas. Most people experience a deep sense of relaxation and peace during the treatment.
Reiki classes are open to anyone- anyone can learn Reiki! Reiki is a powerful tool for self-healing, and those who take a Reiki class have the ability to use Reiki for themselves and others for the rest of their lives. First Degree Reiki is a beginner class open to all, and Second Degree Reiki is an optional advanced class for those who wish to go deeper in their practice.
Liza learned First Degree Reiki and Second Degree Reiki from Robin Scott Manna in 1996 and was initiated as a master by Maureen Pua’ena O’Shaughnessy in 2000. She has been blessed to know and learn from the Lineage Bearer of Usui Shiki Ryoho, and Mrs Takata’s granddaughter, Phyllis Lei Furumoto.
Liza offers sessions in her Kailua office, and long distance when in person treatment is not possible. Clients are invited and encouraged to receive four treatments in a row initially to begin treatment.
Classes are scheduled as students are ready. Her typical First Degree Reiki class schedule is Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings 6:00-9:00, and Sunday morning 8:00-11:00, though daytime classes can be arranged. First Degree Reiki Classes are like a personal retreat and include four initiations, sharing the Reiki story, and teaching self treatment and treatment of others with plenty of time for hands on practice.
Second Degree Reiki Classes are available for those who are ready to partner with Reiki in a more intimate way, and include teaching the three Reiki symbols, the Mental Treatment, and Distance Reiki. Second Degree Classes involve fewer hours and a greater level of commitment; classes are typically scheduled one evening early in the week, then Saturday evening 6:00-9:00 and Sunday morning 8:00-11:00.
